Hot Mandolin Licks

These licks are all what might be called "traditional" Bluegrass, meaning they have some pretty heavy
Blues (read Bill Monroe) influence.

Watch the triplets on this one. Triplets are cool.
mandolin lick
This one "rides" the D string.
mandolin lick
Another lick that ends with the "Monroe Hammer." Made that up myself (the name, that is).
mandolin lick
Starts with the pinky. Ends with another Monroe variation.
mandolin lick
Starts in G, goes to D and back to G.
mandolin lick
Watch the syncopation. Helps to count eighth notes. Moves from G to C and back to G.
mandolin lick
An A-lick that ends with what I call the "Monroe Flurry." The best way I've come up with is to slide the second
finger back as shown.
mandolin lick
Nice lick that slides up the neck. Very bluesy, and can transfer to B-flat, B or C.
